Do you feel like your life is constantly lopsided no matter how hard you try to find balance?

Maybe…just maybe, learning to embrace being lopsided actually is the solution!

What if living a lopsided life from day-to-day is the most efficient path to a balanced life?

We had the opportunity to spend the day with the one and only Randi Zuckerberg, this last week to find out how she manages to do it all. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Randi, let us give you a little background.

Many of you may know her as the sister of Mark Zuckerberg, who is the Founder of Facebook. But what you probably don’t know is who Randi really is!

Randi is the Founder & CEO of Zuckerberg Media, the author of several books including DotComplicated. Her new TV show Dot will air on Sprout this September and she just opened her first location of Sue’s Tech Kitchen in Chatanooga, TN.

As a life long lover of theatre, she starred in “Rock Of Ages” on Broadway. By far her favorite role is as a dedicated wife and mother. She and her husband Brent are raising two young children.

So, how exactly does Randi Zuckerberg do it all? We uncover her secrets in our interview that you can watch below.

Here is an overview of what she had to say:

1. How do you achieve a feeling of balance and fulfillment when you are involved in so many things?

Randi’s biggest advice is that she lives her life with the mantra to “Embrace being well lopsided.” This is a beautiful concept that allows you to give yourself permission to focus on just three things every day and to not have to do it all!

Her advice is to pick five critical areas of importance in your life. For her they are “Work, Sleep, Fitness, Friends, and Family”. Each morning she chooses just three of these that she will focus on that day.

The concept is to make it personal to you.

What are the five most important areas in your life? Now pick three each morning that you will focus on.

2. Where in the world do her endless energy and positive attitude come from?

It was clear to us from the moment we met that she was one of the most incredibly positive, energetic, authentic people we would ever have the chance to spend time with.

This is amazing for those who are lucky enough to have the opportunity to spend time with her, but it requires endless amounts of energy on her part. There are several ways that she keeps up this positive energy.

How can you apply these to your life?

Randi describes herself with two words: “Passion and Joy”. This is critical to her positive energy because these words not only describe how she views herself, but how she lives her life. She approaches every situation with passion and joy.

What two words would you use to describe yourself? What two words would others use to describe you?

Recognize that not everything you touch will be successful. You will have failures. When you are working on 12 things, it is likely that only 2 of them will succeed. You never know which 2 it will be. With the right mindset, you can learn from the 10 failures and turn it into a new success.

What has been your luckiest failure?

Sometimes you have to put the extra effort into yourself instead of putting it externally. Randi believes and lives by the concept that if she is not at her best, she is not capable of putting her best into others. We can all learn from this!

What self-care routines do you follow to make sure you are your best for your business and your loved ones?
